I know that a lot of people have forgotten about Thanksgiving this year, foregoing the "thankful" holiday for the "let's get stuff!" excitement of Christmas- but not me!
My work schedule this year means that I won't be able to go home like most other students for Thanksgiving, but that means that some of my family will be coming HERE to celebrate with me. I'm hosting a (little) holiday dinner right here in my little apartment with my boyfriend, and my brother, mom, a family friend, and perhaps a few others will be coming to stay (and the kitties too!). I'm so excited! Menu plans and other ideas are already bouncing around in my head, making it hard to be dedicated to the dullness of classwork that's been dragging on this semester.
The logistics of dealing with my tiny apartment kitchen may be
difficult interesting, but being able to get some of my relatives together over a good meal and some spiced cider means a lot to me. With all of us living apart now, it's the occasional Skype date, Facebook post, or hurried phone call that's keeping us connected. To me, the holiday season isn't really about getting things, eating lots of food, or sending letters because you have to, it's about family and friends, the loved ones that support you and help you through life's trials.
Looking forward to Thanksgiving!!
